Programing with Conisio

Can anyone offer any tip for using the API for Conisio.
I am not a profesional programer but I have writen a few applications and addins (mainly in VB & VBA but also C#). I number of these programs involve accesing files which are stored in a Conisio Valt.
This is frustrating because I have not been able to get the programs to talk to Conisio. This means the user has to get the latest version of a file using the Conisio File Manager interface, before the program can access the file.
I understand that Conisio comes with an API which should allow me to acces the databses and functions though the programing languege, however I have failed to figure out how to work with it.
Does anyone have any tips, datasheets or source code which could help me get to grips with this?
