Protocol for Interface Between Laptop & Docking Station

Hello,

I have an application that I would like to use an external expansion buss similar to a Magma expansion chassis, but very dissimilar to their price. There is an abundance of new & unused laptop docking stations and several of the earlier units facilitate both ISA and PCI expansion. My question is whether or not it would be feasible to use the components from a laptop docking station for building an external expansion buss for a PC?
